Commercial laundry specialist Brewer and Bunney has scored another first by equipping what is the UK's most southerly industrial laundry system - on the Isles of Scilly.
Brewer and Bunney has supplied St Mary's-based holiday property firm, Island Properties with a laundry solution which means it no longer has to have its laundry shipped to and from the mainland.
Now Island Properties, which has around 90 properties, will not only be able to provide its own fresh, clean linen throughout the year, but it also hopes to be able to provide a wider laundry service for other accommodation providers across the Islands.
In addition to three Electroux washers, including a Lagoon wet cleaning machine Brewer and Bunney have also supplied 2 Electrolux Lagoon energy efficient tumble dryers and a Girbau electric Industrial ironer.
The company also installed an automatic dosing system and provided the Island Properties team with full on site training. According to Tim Guthrie of Scilly Linen, the benefits of the new system are massive.
"Both environmentally and logistically it was not an ideal situation to have our laundry serviced in Cornwall, so we decided to make a significant investment and create a state of the art laundry on the Islands. We did have a number of machines that we used here, but they were getting very long in the tooth.
"These are the most environmentally friendly systems available on the market, using the least amount of water and electricity, which is important given our location, but just as importantly, the cleaning capabilities and results that we are able to achieve are absolutely fantastic and the ironing system is absolutely superb.
"People's expectations in the self catering market have changed and we need to change to make sure we are always ahead of the game and the investment in the new system is a reflection of that. We now also have the capability to be able to offer other businesses on the Islands a high quality service, which would also reduce their need to send laundry to the mainland," said Tim.
Island Properties opted for the state of the art Lagoon Wet Cleaning Systems, Dryers and the Girbau Electric Finishing Ironer. They also opted for an automatic dosing system for the Lagoon system. Brewer and Bunney supported them through the planning process before its team went over to the Isles of Scilly, fitted the complete laundry and provided Island Properties with training on every aspect of the new laundry.
Brewer and Bunney Sales Director Terry Willetts said "the new system installed on St Mary's is the most technically advanced and environmentally friendly available."
"The Lagoon system we have fitted for Island Properties really is revolutionary and combined with the Girbau ironing system, they can now boast of having the most advanced southerly laundry in the UK!" said Terry.
"We are delighted that the system is working so well for Island Properties and enabling them to not only achieve great results but also reduce their need to send items "off-Island," he added.
