Brewer and Bunney receives accolade

Redruth-based commercial laundry specialist Brewer and Bunney has received a major accolade from international laundry equipment manufacturer Girbau.

Less than 2 years after becoming one of their approved distributors, supplying a range of industrial laundry equipment, Brewer and Bunney has been awarded with Girbau's Elite Business Partner Status standard - making them one of the top 5 business partners in the UK.

Brewer and Bunney sales director Terry Willetts accepted the award at a national conference at the Belfry, which brought all Girbau's UK partners together.

David Hayes, MD of Brewer and Bunney said he was delighted that the company had achieved the Elite award, which cemented the company's status as the South West's number one distributor for Industrial Laundry equipment.

"This is a fantastic achievement for us and we are delighted to receive it - especially as it remains a relatively new relationship for us. However, working with Girbau has enabled us to offer our customers a wider range of commercial laundry solutions which has strengthened our position in the market," said David.

Ken Prunty, South West manager for Girbau said Brewer and Bunney were extremely deserving of the Elite Status award.

"I have known the Team at Brewer and Bunney for a long time and am aware of how professional they are in terms of customer advice and help and most importantly the after sales service they provide. These are key values that we also share with them and as such I believe it has a positive reflection both on them as one of our major business partners and also on us as a manufacturer."

Brewer and Bunney celebrates a decade of Investing in People

Redruth-based commercial laundry specialist Brewer and Bunney is celebrating after achieving 10 years as an Investors in People (IIP) accredited company.

The company, which supplies a wide range of commercial laundry equipment to businesses across the South West and is the UK's leading supplier of Electrolux commercial equipment, first achieved the IIP standard in 2000 and has retained it ever since, having been reassessed every 3 years.

The achievement makes the company, which started life over 35 years ago, one of the longest serving holders of the IIP standard in the region, much to the delight of company founder and chairman David Brewer.

"We are thrilled to have reached this achievement, having undergone 3 reassessments since we first secured IIP status in 2000.

"Our business has been built on the strength and quality of the people who work here and we have been rewarded with a very settled, professional and motivated team who have helped us to ensure not only our continued growth but the retention of the IIP standard.

Mark Smith of CPR Regeneration who presented David Hayes, Managing Director, with a certificate to commemorate the achievement said the recognition was well deserved.

"The fact that Brewer & Bunney have held their IIP accreditation for a decade is certainly something to shout about and I am very proud to have presented them with their certificate. Less than 1 per cent of the 1.2 million businesses in the UK have achieved this, which really does put this in perspective," said Mark.

"Brewer & Bunney clearly place their commitment to staff at the heart of their business, and I have no doubt that it is this care that ensures they continue to grow. Research shows that people who are valued stay with their employer, and this in turn helps to establish stable and trusting relationships with clients - with a direct impact on the bottom line, " he added.

Cornwall's leading luxury hotel increases quality with Brewer and Bunney

Cornwall's leading luxury hotel - The Nare - is setting even higher standards with the quality of its linen and laundry thanks to a major investment programme undertaken with Redruth-based commercial laundry specialists Brewer and Bunney.

Rated by the AA for the for the past 15 years as the best hotel in Cornwall,
when hotel owner Toby Ashworth decided to bring all of the Nare's laundry services in house in order to increase quality, he turned to Brewer and Bunney.

According to Brewer and Bunney The Nare now boasts the latest, state of the art hotel laundry in the county, following the installation of 5 Electrolux Industrial Washing machines, 3 Industrial tumble dryers, and two Electrolux Rotary Ironers.

Now not only has the hotel achieved its goal of providing greater quality for its guests, but it is also seeing increased environmental benefits in the shape of reduced water and chemical usage, lower electricity usage and reduced laundry costs compared to outsourcing the majority of its laundry needs, which it previously did.

According to Mr Ashworth, the benefits of having a laundry designed and installed from scratch were apparent from day one.

"We originally had a very small laundry in the hotel, with the majority of our laundry outsourced to a third party. The problem was that we had no control over the quality and when you are running a hotel that prides itself on quality, this is always going to be issue.

"We recognised that we needed to bring our laundry needs back in house and having done so by working with Brewer and Bunney, the difference has been significant, with our guests openly commenting on the improved quality," said Mr Ashworth.

"After finding premises just a few minutes from the hotel we effectively had a blank canvas in which to create a dedicated laundry which was fantastic. Once we had decided on the layout, Brewer and Bunney installed all of the equipment, including taking our existing equipment out of the Nare and re-siting it alongside the new equipment, before providing our team with full training. The whole process took place remarkably smoothly," he added.

Brewer and Bunney MD David Hayes said he was delighted that the results being achieved by the Nare were so positive.

"It's extremely pleasing that the results being seen by the Nare - not just in terms of increasing the quality for its guests but in the associated chemical, water, electricity and cost savings - are so positive.

"The planning stages of this project were crucial to its success and Toby and his team were committed to quality at every level and are now reaping the benefits of taking such a dedicated approach," said David.

Helston Sparkles as launderette becomes an eco-friendly UK first

A launderette in Helston has become the first in the UK to take delivery of a revolutionary new environmentally friendly commercial washing machine.

Bubbles Launderette in Meneage Street has beaten all other launderettes in the UK to become the first to take delivery of the revolutionary Lagoon Wetcleaning machine - an alternative to dry cleaning.

Supplied by Redruth-based commercial equipment specialist Brewer and Bunney, the new wet cleaning alternative to dry cleaning equipment removes the need for solvents and hydrocarbons used in dry cleaning equipment, instead using biodegradable products.

Joyce Williams, who runs Bubbles, said she was thrilled to be the first launderette in the UK to use the new system.

"When we spoke to Brewer and Bunney and they told us about the new machine, we thought that the opportunity to become more environmentally friendly and offer better results with an alternative to traditional dry cleaning was a good one.

"Not for one minute did we think we would be the first launderette in the UK to take delivery of the system, but we are delighted to have that feather in our cap," said Joyce.

Brewer and Bunney Managing Director David Hayes said he was delighted that Joyce had decided to go down the eco-friendly route. "The Lagoon system really is revolutionary and for us to be able to supply the first one anywhere in the UK is fantastic. We are delighted that Joyce decided to take on the new system and opt for a more environmentally friendly and better way of dry cleaning.

"It is certainly a system that will become the new dry cleaning so to have a UK first in Cornwall is an achievement Joyce should be rightly proud of," said Mr Hayes.

Redruth Company officially opens new headquarters

A Cornish business that started life over 34 years ago in a disused garage, is celebrating the official opening of its new purpose built headquarters.

Redruth-based Brewer and Bunney has grown from its modest roots to become the South West's leading commercial laundry equipment specialist.

Now the company, which employs 18 people, is celebrating the official opening of its new headquarters on Barncoose Industrial Estate, as demand for its services continues to grow.

The opening ceremony was performed by the Finance Director of Electrolux UK's Commercial Division Mr David Beesley and was attended by Brewer and Bunney's staff and invited guests.

Company Chairman and founder David Brewer, who is also Chairman of the CPR Regeneration Company and Cornwall Chamber of Commerce and Industry, believes the company's success and continued growth is testament to the commitment and expertise of the company's staff, a view shared by Brewer and Bunney managing Director David Hayes.

"From our origins as an electrical contractor and retailer serving Camborne and Redruth we have grown to become the South West's leading commercial laundry equipment specialist with a reputation for expertise which has spread across the UK.

"Our growth and success is a reflection of the quality of the people we have working here," said Mr Hayes, "and I am delighted that it has necessitated the creation of a purpose built headquarters, which will serve our future needs perfectly."

Performing the official opening ceremony, Mr Beesley paid tribute to Brewer and Bunney.

"When we recently launched our new Lagoon commercial washing system in the UK, I was not surprised that the first person in the country to sell the system was Terry Willetts, Brewer and Bunney's sales manager. Such is their approach to business. They have become the UK's largest Agent for Electrolux commercial laundry equipment and I am delighted to have been invited to perform the official opening of their new offices," said Mr Beesley.

In addition to being the UK's leading supplier of Electrolux laundry equipment, Brewer and Bunney is also the country's largest distributor of Johnson Diversey auto feed liquid detergents.
