Helston Sparkles as launderette becomes an eco-friendly UK first

A launderette in Helston has become the first in the UK to take delivery of a revolutionary new environmentally friendly commercial washing machine.

Bubbles Launderette in Meneage Street has beaten all other launderettes in the UK to become the first to take delivery of the revolutionary Lagoon Wetcleaning machine - an alternative to dry cleaning.

Supplied by Redruth-based commercial equipment specialist Brewer and Bunney, the new wet cleaning alternative to dry cleaning equipment removes the need for solvents and hydrocarbons used in dry cleaning equipment, instead using biodegradable products.

Joyce Williams, who runs Bubbles, said she was thrilled to be the first launderette in the UK to use the new system.

"When we spoke to Brewer and Bunney and they told us about the new machine, we thought that the opportunity to become more environmentally friendly and offer better results with an alternative to traditional dry cleaning was a good one.

"Not for one minute did we think we would be the first launderette in the UK to take delivery of the system, but we are delighted to have that feather in our cap," said Joyce.

Brewer and Bunney Managing Director David Hayes said he was delighted that Joyce had decided to go down the eco-friendly route. "The Lagoon system really is revolutionary and for us to be able to supply the first one anywhere in the UK is fantastic. We are delighted that Joyce decided to take on the new system and opt for a more environmentally friendly and better way of dry cleaning.

"It is certainly a system that will become the new dry cleaning so to have a UK first in Cornwall is an achievement Joyce should be rightly proud of," said Mr Hayes.

Redruth Company officially opens new headquarters

A Cornish business that started life over 34 years ago in a disused garage, is celebrating the official opening of its new purpose built headquarters.

Redruth-based Brewer and Bunney has grown from its modest roots to become the South West’s leading commercial laundry equipment specialist.

Now the company, which employs 18 people, is celebrating the official opening of its new headquarters on Barncoose Industrial Estate, as demand for its services continues to grow.

The opening ceremony was performed by the Finance Director of Electrolux UK’s Commercial Division Mr David Beesley and was attended by Brewer and Bunney’s staff and invited guests.

Company Chairman and founder David Brewer, who is also Chairman of the CPR Regeneration Company and Cornwall Chamber of Commerce and Industry, believes the company’s success and continued growth is testament to the commitment and expertise of the company’s staff, a view shared by Brewer and Bunney managing Director David Hayes.

"From our origins as an electrical contractor and retailer serving Camborne and Redruth we have grown to become the South West’s leading commercial laundry equipment specialist with a reputation for expertise which has spread across the UK.

"Our growth and success is a reflection of the quality of the people we have working here," said Mr Hayes, "and I am delighted that it has necessitated the creation of a purpose built headquarters, which will serve our future needs perfectly."

Performing the official opening ceremony, Mr Beesley paid tribute to Brewer and Bunney.

"When we recently launched our new Lagoon commercial washing system in the UK, I was not surprised that the first person in the country to sell the system was Terry Willetts, Brewer and Bunney’s sales manager. Such is their approach to business. They have become the UK’s largest Agent for Electrolux commercial laundry equipment and I am delighted to have been invited to perform the official opening of their new offices," said Mr Beesley.

In addition to being the UK’s leading supplier of Electrolux laundry equipment, Brewer and Bunney is also the country’s largest distributor of Johnson Diversey auto feed liquid detergents.

Investing in people makes good business sense

The South West’s leading laundry and cleaning equipment suppliers is celebrating gaining Investors in People status for the third time running.

And David Hayes, Managing Director of Redruth based Brewer & Bunney, says that investing in staff training has real business benefits.

Based on the Pool Industrial Estate, Brewer & Bunney has been serving customers across the region for nearly 30 years, with clients from across the health, leisure and public sectors.

The firm, which currently employs around 20 staff and became a limited company in 1998, first achieved Investors in People (IiP) status in 2000. Now, its accreditation has just been renewed for a second time.

David Hayes said: "Our business depends on the quality of service we offer to our customers. To provide that we need well trained staff capable of delivering the company objective of being ' best in class' in customer relationships.

"Investors in People status is proof of our commitment to the long-term development of both staff and customers."

Brewer & Bunney are the leading agents for Electrolux Laundry Systems in the UK, as well as distributors for other leading brands. The company also supplies cleaning, dish and glass-washing equipment and provide maintenance and technical support services.

Mr Hayes added: "Our company's success and unrivalled reputation throughout the industry is due to the care and attention we give to providing the best solution to our customers needs.
